What began in 1963 has grown into one of the Pacific Northwest's most trusted custom home builders — still family-owned, still driven by the same values.

From Charlie Schaafsma's first homes in Enumclaw to his grandson Joseph's modern designs, every generation has added something new while keeping what matters: honesty, craftsmanship, and the belief that a home should be built to last lifetimes.

A Family Legacy

1954

Roots in the Pacific Northwest

Charlie Schaafsma relocates from California to Enumclaw, Washington, bringing years of construction experience — including building dairies throughout the Central Valley.

1963

Melody Homes is Founded

Charlie establishes Melody Homes and gets to work — designing and building hundreds of homes, stores, and barns across the Plateau. His most enduring contribution: Melody Park, a beloved Enumclaw neighborhood that still carries his name.

1977

Dan Takes the Helm

Charlie's son Dan Schaafsma assumes ownership and pivots the company toward the residential custom home sector — blending the family's deep roots in craftsmanship with a modern focus on bespoke, client-driven design. The company is reborn as Concept Builders Inc.

2023

The Third Generation

Joseph Schaafsma — Charlie's grandson — assumes ownership, becoming the third generation to lead the family business. Joseph brings fresh energy and a passion for clean, modern architecture while honoring the legacy his grandfather built over 60 years ago.

Materials & Finishes

You'll be guided through our curated selections process — flooring, cabinetry, countertops, fixtures, and more. We have established relationships with premium suppliers to give you access to materials that are both beautiful and built to last.

04Construction

The Build

With plans approved and materials selected, our skilled craftsmen break ground. You'll have a dedicated project manager providing regular updates, site walk-throughs, and a transparent schedule so you're always informed and never surprised.

05Quality Assurance

Inspections & Finishing

Before handover, your home undergoes a rigorous multi-point inspection and punch-list process. We don't consider our job done until every detail meets the standard our family name demands — because your home is a reflection of ours.

06Welcome Home

Handover & Warranty

We walk through every room with you at handover — explaining systems, warranties, and care. And our relationship doesn't end there. We back our builds with a comprehensive warranty and stand behind our work for the long term.
